That kind of honesty ultimately leads to better outcomes because you pressure-test the principle first.
Alignment.
I’ve had a seat at a lot of tables with management, investors, and partners. The best outcomes happen when everyone around the table shares the same long-term mindset. That’s not to say you can’t have challenge first, but it should lead to agreement on the goal.
As one of the few female General Partners in private equity, I’ve always been comfortable challenging the status quo.
I’m drawn to situations where conventional thinking has gone untested, be that in structuring partnerships differently, building new investment networks, or bringing together groups of investors who don’t usually collaborate and making it work.
