A.GAIN’s Journey to Wall Street with Securitize

The future of capital markets belongs to companies that can combine digital infrastructure with institutional trust.

Securitize ringing the New York Stock Exchange Closing Bell gives A.GAIN’s long-running investment thesis a public stage. A company built around tokenized assets is stepping onto the stage of one of traditional finance’s most recognizable institutions.

A.GAIN Managing Director and co-founder Alejandro Rodríguez joined Carlos Domingo and the Securitize team at the New York Stock Exchange last week.

A.GAIN’s conviction began with a structural problem: Financial ownership still relies on layers of intermediaries, recordkeeping systems, compliance checks, and settlement processes. These systems have supported markets for decades, but they were not designed for assets that can be issued, managed, and transferred digitally across global networks.

Securitize offered a more practical path forward. Its work in tokenization was built around regulated infrastructure: clearer ownership records, programmable compliance, faster settlement, and broader distribution for assets that have historically been difficult to access or administer.

The Story of Securitize

Execution became the decisive part of the investment case. Co-founder and CEO Carlos Domingo, who helped build Securitize around the regulated issuance and management of digital securities, understood that tokenization would reach scale through institutional confidence. That meant credible rails, regulated workflows, and infrastructure that issuers, investors, regulators, and asset managers could use without lowering their standards.

Securitize’s strategy brought blockchain-based infrastructure into the operating standards of institutional markets. Its strength was the combination of technical ambition and regulatory discipline, which became the foundation of A.GAIN’s conviction.

Building Across Market Cycles

The years that followed required patience. Tokenization passed through cycles of enthusiasm, skepticism, regulatory scrutiny, and renewed institutional interest. In digital assets, those cycles can be severe. Market attention moves quickly, and companies are often rewarded for visibility before durability is tested.

Securitize took on a different path. It continued to build around compliance, market structure, and institutional partnerships, even when the broader digital-asset market was volatile. That discipline was essential because tokenization matures through market infrastructure: regulated functions, reliable counterparties, operational resilience, and the confidence of institutions willing to build on those rails.

That work has since broadened through relationships with major asset managers such as BlackRock, Apollo, Hamilton Lane, KKR, and VanEck. In parallel, Securitize has built a regulatory footprint in the United States across the functions needed to issue, administer, transfer, trade, and report digital securities.

The New York Stock Exchange collaboration adds further weight to that position. Earlier this year, NYSE and Securitize announced a memorandum of understanding focused on tokenized securities infrastructure. This led to Securitize becoming the first digital transfer agent eligible to mint blockchain-native securities for corporate or ETF issuers on the planned NYSE-affiliated Digital Trading Platform, subject to applicable requirements.

For A.GAIN, these developments point to the kind of progress that separates durable infrastructure businesses from early market excitement. Securitize kept building through volatility, stayed close to regulation, and developed systems that institutional participants could evaluate on familiar terms.

From Tokenization to Market Structure

Securitize’s NYSE milestone matters because tokenization is entering a more institutional phase, focused on whether digital asset infrastructure can support the full operating requirements of regulated markets: from issuance and administration to transfer, reporting, servicing, and investor protection.

That is where market structure becomes decisive. Capital markets depend on rules, controls, disclosures, recordkeeping, settlement processes, and accountability. Any company seeking to modernize those systems has to work within that reality.

The platform’s progress speaks to a wider shift in digital assets as well. The sector is moving beyond the early language of disruption and toward a more pragmatic discussion about integration. Tokenization does not need to replace the financial system to matter. Its larger opportunity may be in improving the parts of the system that remain slow, fragmented, or difficult to access.

This investment reflects A.GAIN’s broader approach to emerging markets. The firm seeks out companies with the potential to define a category before consensus has formed, weighing founder quality, timing, regulatory complexity, and the durability of the infrastructure being built.

Securitize fits that framework. The investment was grounded in the belief that financial markets would eventually need stronger digital rails, and that the companies best positioned for that transition would be those capable of combining technical ambition with regulatory discipline. And, fittingly, A.GAIN is receiving our shares in token form, with SECZ becoming the largest stock to have active tokens as liquid shares.

What Lies Ahead

The larger opportunity sits in the operating layer of capital markets. Stocks, bonds, private funds, credit products, real estate interests, and other real-world assets all depend on systems that record ownership, manage transfers, support servicing, and settle transactions. Much of that infrastructure still carries cost, friction, and delay. Tokenization becomes meaningful when it improves those functions in ways that institutions can measure, govern, and trust.

That path is likely to be uneven. The market still needs clearer regulation, broader issuer adoption, deeper liquidity, stronger investor education, and operating standards that can withstand institutional scrutiny. Scale will come through practical use cases rather than broad claims about disruption.

A.GAIN’s view is that the strongest platforms will understand both the technical potential of blockchain-based infrastructure and the discipline required by capital markets. They will need to make digital ownership easier to administer, easier to audit, and easier to integrate with the systems investors already use.

Securitize has spent years building in that direction. The NYSE Closing Bell gives that work a public stage, while the larger story continues to develop across issuers, asset managers, regulators, and investors. Ultimately, the milestone reflects the conviction behind A.GAIN’s original investment and the scale of the market are still taking shape.
