I like to challenge myself and the team every day to keep thinking sharp, staying updated, and continuing to innovate. I try to maintain a mindset of thinking outside the box.
That attitude helps us when things start to get complicated in a negotiation, deal structuring, or business operations. When a situation gets messy and people start stepping back, I go in. I don’t know if that’s a habit or just how I’m wired. But I’ve noticed it consistently enough that I’ve stopped questioning it and started relying on it.
There are two parts to long-term value creation.
First, the human side: the people, the culture, the heart, the ambition... and the entrepreneur’s serenity. That instinct, that gut feeling that guides decisions when there is no clear answer. It’s intangible, but it’s often what defines whether something truly scales or breaks under pressure.
Second, the details nobody notices. Capital structure. Operating model. How incentives are actually set up on day one. Long-term value is almost always determined by those early, technical, unsexy choices. And most people walk right past them.
The combination of both is what really builds enduring companies.
Real ambiguity. Not theoretical complexity but actual situations where the pressure is on, the answer isn’t clear, and everyone in the room is waiting for someone to go first.
